Father Hans Olson is the pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vancouver, WA. Born in Portland, Oregon in 1957, the fourth of nine children, seven boys and two girls, he attended Our Lady of Lake Church and School in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Moving with his parents to Edmonds, Washington, Father Olson attended Holy Rosary Church School and graduated from Edmonds High School. He entered St. Thomas Seminary in the fall of 1975, transferred to the University of Idaho in 1977 and graduated with a degree in Philosophy in 1979.
After completing his Masters of Divinity at the Washington Theological Union in Washington D.C., Father Olson was ordained at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, Washington in June of 1983. He served as Associate at St. Alphonsus – Seattle, at St. Luke in Shoreline and at Sacred Heart, Bellevue. He was appointed Pastor of St. Rose de Viterbo at Longview Washington in July 1989 where he served for seven years. Father Olson was Pastor of St. Joseph at Vancouver from 1996-2008 and is currently Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen in Everett, WA. He enjoys gardening, creating church art, and working with wood.
